Endurance in action: How is Mike Beck training for the Arctic Circle Race
The countdown is on for Mike Beck’s Arctic Circle Race! He may be an expert at selling Endurance vehicles in his day job, but now is the time to push his physical endurance to the limit as he prepares for the world’s toughest cross-country race.
Mike has recently returned from a trip to Cervinia, Italy, where he trained for upwards of three hours a day on his cross-country skis. While that may sound intense, the event itself demands an average of 55km per day – that’s 6-8 hours of skiing through the mountains each day, for three days straight!
Training for the Ultimate Challenge
Every week, alongside his work here at Endurance, Mike is following a rigorously designed training plan incorporating swimming, running, cycling, roller skiing, and – our personal favourite – resting, to ensure he’s in peak condition for the race.
“There aren’t any snowy mountains close enough to my home in Wales for cross-country ski practice,” says Beck. “So instead, I’ve been doing laps of my local park on roller skis. Honestly, I look about as silly as they sound, so I’ve started going in the evening to minimise the funny looks I get!”
Planning and Preparation: The Endurance Way
At Endurance, we know that careful planning and thorough preparation are key to delivering the best results. Our entire team, from the workshop to the fleet management department, undergoes regular training to ensure we stay ahead of industry developments and provide the best possible service.
There’s a reason our motto is ‘Thinking ahead to keep you ahead’ – and it looks like Mike has definitely taken that to heart!
