World Mental Health Day

It’s World Mental Health Day tomorrow. The theme of the day, determined by The World Federation for Mental Health is: “It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace.”

We’re not claiming we’ve got it sussed at Endurance Vehicle Solutions, but we do our best within our reach. We thought a positive way to support the day might be to share what works well for us and our team.

You might find something you can adopt for your organisation, but let us know what works in your business or for you personally as well:

1️⃣ We focus on trust rather than micro-management, which helps the team feel personally invested, fulfilled and respected. It also accelerates personal development and initiative.

2️⃣ Tea and toast grease the wheels of productivity, so we make sure there’s a plentiful supply! 🫖

3️⃣ And on the subject of tea, everyone is expected to make the tea at some point. Everyone. It’s a great British custom and a brilliantly simple way to express gratitude and kindness. ☕️

4️⃣ We invested in new washrooms and we make sure they’re equipped with quality toiletries. This underlines how we value and respect our team as individuals.

5️⃣ We often eat together at breakfast and lunch. Beyond simply enjoying each other’s company, we hope it also helps to avoid any ‘upstairs-downstairs’ divides developing in the culture.

6️⃣ The leadership team exemplifies the culture – positive, encouraging and friendly.

7️⃣ We are good listeners and very hands-on with addressing issues raised by staff. We hope our people never feel isolated, but do feel safe to raise problems and have them sorted promptly.

Neil Jeremiah, Endurance Management Director, commented:

“We’re not perfect and would never claim to be, but I think we are genuinely kind, and that’s a very good starting point. We don’t rest on our laurels though. There’s always more that can be done to ensure people feel seen, heard, valued and included.”
