Driving the circular economy forward: Endurance backs ESA’s vision for 2040

The Environmental Services Association (ESA) has released a bold and inspiring roadmap to deliver a fully circular economy in the UK by 2040, and at Endurance Vehicle Solutions, we’re proud to support this mission every step of the way.

The vision sets out two major goals: doubling national resource productivity and eliminating all avoidable waste.

This means increasing the average municipal solid waste recycling rate to 75% – a 10-million-tonne leap from today’s levels – a transformation that demands innovation, collaboration, and action across the entire waste value chain.

𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲

ESA’s strategy is underpinned by five connected interventions – all detailed here (which we’d highly recommend clicking through to read in full):

1. Reducing waste arisings
2. Maximising recyclability of unavoidable waste
3. Increasing participation across the value chain
4. Improving recycling and waste treatment processes
5. Preventing waste leaving the closed loop

We recognise the role that our business can play — particularly in relation to aim #3 — in meeting these targets. Smarter, longer-lasting, and more efficient vehicles on the road will be essential to achieving these goals, especially for our clients on the front lines of waste and recycling.
